On this day: Kelly Slater scores two 10-point rides in the final of the 2005 Billabong Pro Teahupoo. On his final wave he takes off, pulls in, and comes out sculling a beer in celebration.

It’s a competition Slater totally dominates, his final four heat scores are 18.50, 18.93, 19.73 and 20. He later cites that day as the catalyst for the ‘05 world title and the start of his second run of world titles (he hadn’t won since 1998).
